Are you preparing to pop the question to your significant other? If so, you should think long and hard about how you plan to do it and come up with a creative way to propose. You and your future spouse are going to remember your proposal for years to come, so you should be able to look back on it and smile and laugh about how clever your idea was.

If nothing comes to mind right away, don’t worry! There are plenty of people who struggle to come up with ways to propose. Plus, if you happen to be into some of the “geekier” things in life—as in, if you prefer kicking back and playing an RPG video game or watching a sci-fi movie to doing just about anything else—there are so many great ways for you to ask for your significant other’s hand in marriage. Check out 10 geeky proposal ideas below and think about using one of them when you decide it’s time to settle down and get married.

Do you love sitting down and reading a good comic book? Or does your significant other enjoy reading them? Then you should consider using one to ask him or her to marry you. The plot of the comic book should focus on the various ups and downs of your relationship, and it should end with you popping the question! You both will be able to read your comic book in the coming years as you add new chapters to it in your real life.

Program a video game to help you pop the question.

From Super Mario Bros. to Bejeweled, there are quite a few video games that have been programmed in the past to help gamers propose. It will take some work on your end to get the programming done, but it will be well worth it in the end when your significant other sees “Will You Marry Me?” or some other variation of that question pop up on the screen.

Design a ring inspired by one of your favorite movies.

Do you and your significant other love movies like Star Wars? You might be surprised to hear that you can design a ring that looks just like an astromech droid. You can also design a ring based on many other beloved movie characters. Just imagine their face when they see you on one knee holding a ring that reminds them of a great movie you have watched together over and over again.

Use your LEGOs to build something that will do the proposing for you.

Over the years, there have been many LEGO enthusiasts who have worked their love for LEGOs into their proposals. You can build a wedding scene out of LEGOs with your partner and then ask them to marry you at the end or unveil something that you have already built to show them just how much you care about them. Either way, they will be blown away by your creativity.

Build a website that shows why you’re the perfect match for your significant other.

There are so many dating sites out there that promise to find you your perfect match. Now that you have found yours, you can create a site of your own that is designed to show your partner why you two are so good together. You will also be able to use the site later to show all of your friends and family why you are so compatible when you announce your engagement.

Create a board game that finishes with both of you winning.

Many couples like to unwind by sitting down and playing a board game. Why not create a game of your own that also functions as a way to help you propose? Whether you incorporate dice into the mix or you come up with another way to move around the board, the game should end with you getting engaged and both of you walking away winners!

Assemble a crossword puzzle that spells out your proposal.

If your partner is a big fan of crossword puzzles, you can actually create your own puzzle to ask them to marry you. You can even come up with clever clues that hint at your intentions before you break the big news to them at the end of the puzzle.

Engrave an iPod, iPhone, or iPad with your proposal and then fill it with wedding songs.

Apple allows you to engrave the back of many of their products, including iPods, iPhones, and iPads. Why not take advantage of this by engraving “Will you marry me?” into one of the devices. To make it even more special, you can also fill the device with a bunch of wedding songs and start planning out which one you will dance to at your ceremony.

Utilize a drone to deliver your engagement ring.

Is it a bird? No. Is it a plane? No. It’s a drone carrying a ring for your proposal! You should obviously be careful about where you fly your drone when it has your engagement ring tucked inside of it, but your significant other will be blown away once the ring literally appears from thin air.

Shoot a movie trailer about your relationship and propose once it’s over.

Most movie buffs don’t like it when a trailer gives away the ending of a film. But your partner won’t mind one bit when you spoil the ending of the movie for the memorable trailer you’ve created!
